I have been in the industry for over 13 years so have plenty of knowledge and experience. My strength is getting to know our client and interpreting their unique personalities, wants and needs into their space. Something that is really important is to get on with your designer as we will be working closely together, therefore it is crucial to meet with your designer before any contracts are signed.

Our fee depends on the scope of the project, and how involved you’re wanting us to be. The more time required from the designer’s side = more fees. Fee structures are usually as follows:

• Hourly rate: Hours are estimated at the beginning of the project based on the project brief and scope. The fee tends to be fixed, unless the brief changes.
• Percentage fee: This usually applies to project management of design projects (renovations or new builds), and is usually 5-10% of contractors’ and suppliers’ invoices.
• Cost plus fee: This usually applies to procurement depending on the project.  You will always be quoted the standard retail price, and the procurement fee will be shown separately if it’s a cost plus, usually 10% of the retail price. If you are doing the procurement yourself, this fee will not apply.

I will re-asses based on your feedback and amend the design. Remember, you hire a designer to give you YOUR dream space, not theirs. Nothing will be done or ordered without your 100% approval.

First up we meet, preferably at the space you need designed. If it doesn’t exist yet, then it’s the perfect excuse for a coffee date! We discuss your project, brief and scope of work while I find out a bit more about you. I will then compile the design fee proposal outlining the project scope, fees and the contract. Once you give us the thumbs-up, a deposit is due, a contract is signed and then I get to work!

The design stages are as follows:

1. Concept design: Working with the plan and creating the general look and feel.
2. Design development: Once I know we’re on the right track, the design is further developed so you get the full picture.
3. Technical documentation: On approval on the design, we finalise all detailed drawings, finishes, fittings, furnishing and equipment. I’ll compile a specification document, drawings and quotations.
4. Procurement: This is the stage you would take over if you wanted to do procurement and project management yourself armed with the design pack above. Otherwise, if you’ve handed us the reigns, we’ll take care of all the procurement for you.
5. Project management and implementation: We handle the dirty work and drama on your behalf.
6. Handover and enjoy your new space!
